The 2017 box office has its last hurrah this weekend, with several high profile offerings, including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which will top $1 billion on its third weekend of release — pushing domestic receipts toward $11 billion. That’s not enough to make up for a 3+/-% decline (mostly attributable to a couple of severe box office under performances by Justice League and Transformers: The Last Knight) from last year’s $11.3 billion domestic cume, which was an all-time record for North American cinema.
