Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Summary:
In Disney’s most recent release, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, most of the movie was shot with 3D cameras; however, some shots were shot in 2D and then converted into stereo. Legend3D was excited to take on a challenge of matching the client’s native 3D in quality, shape, and depth to create this flawless transition, thereby creating a seamless experience for the moviegoer.
Creative Analysis:
“We were selected by Disney to be the sole 2D-to-3D conversion vendor due to the high-quality of work that we continue to produce across our projects. It is a huge compliment to have been chosen to assist this creative team on this cornerstone franchise. It was incredibly gratifying to create a complex finished product that seamlessly blended in with their natively-captured 3D footage.” Colin Yu, Legend3D Stereographer
“One of the most in-depth projects that we have worked on to date, the challenge of this film was to seamlessly blend the complex conversion shots with those that were shot natively. Due to the fact that this film was shot on a remote island, it proved to be very difficult for the production team to transport in the heavy 3D camera rigs and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to assist them with the conversion of those select moments that they chose to shoot on film. Our talented creative team, partnered with stereo expert Rob Engle, successfully converted this footage, resulting in the creation of a flawless transition between their native sequences.” Matt Akey, Legend3D Producer
